In kids club this week we have built a huge den from the parachute, the children then made this into their house and used different resources to create rooms. They had a bedroom with mats down as beds and used a laptop as a pretend TV and the benches as a sofa. They decided to have a pizza party for tea with homemade pizzas. YUM!

Also this week we have begun talking about Remembrance Day, why we celebrate it and we have also painted some lovely poppies.

Another busy time in Red Group!  It was our new starters first time in Forest School and all of the children appeared to have a great time.  After we had a safety talk with pictures we investigated all of the equipment and discovered lots of fruit that had fallen off the apple and pear trees.  We later made them into a lovely crumble!   The children used the magnifying glasses to look for creatures and look at the colours of the leaves in the beautiful autumn sunshine.  We even found some snail eggs under a log and we found out more interesting facts about snails and slugs in a special book we have in Nursery.  What an exciting day! Then we talked about Remembrance Day and what it means.  We made poppies to take home. We had a talk about the dentist too and the children had a turn of brushing an enormous set of teeth!  There was also 2 more celebrations- Diwali and Children in Need.  We found out about Diwali and made special light holders to take home.  Then we celebrated C.I.N. by dressing up and making spotty Pudsey bears!  What a week!

This week we have been talking about fireworks and how to keep ourselves safe.  First, we listened to the story about Guy Fawkes and why we see and hear fireworks on the 5th of November. We then used a variety of mark making equipment and materials to make colourful firework pictures! We watched a firework display on the white board and used colourful ribbons to make Catherine wheel moves etc., whilst dancing to music.  We also listened to the fire safety story about Frances the Firefly.

The children dance fast and slowly to the rhythm to the music using the pom poms. They moved their bodies around the room and then talked about their own body and their own heart beats.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We have had an amazingly fun week at nursery!!

Exploring spooky stories and things that are real and pretend. The children enjoyed exploring all the Halloween areas in the bottom room, there was spiders, webs and witches and lots of other spooky things in cauldrons all around.

We also had a Halloween DISCO!!!

We all dressed up, played lots of games like pass the spider and spooky corners. We had a dance and a fashion parade to show off our costumes and danced some more!

To end we had a delicious party tea in our group rooms where we played even more games! We read Room on the Broom and played pin the nose on the pumpkin and bobbing for doughnuts!

What a great week 🙂

This week the Snug have been exploring all things Halloween and having lots of spooky fun! We hid spiders in spaghetti and encouraged the children to pick them out using the tweezers to promote their fine motor skills. We counted how many we found.

The children loved our Halloween party and dressing up in their costumes. We played pass the pumpkin, pin the nose on the pumpkin, doughnut bobbing, we had a yummy party snack and a disco.

The children have enjoyed decorating a biscuit with Halloween sprinkles and using glue to make sticky pictures with Halloween sequins.

We also explored some pumpkins, encouraging the children to scoop out the insides and see what it felt like. The children used language such as, “sticky” and “cold”.

Have a lovely half term and we will see you soon!

It is lovely to see everyone back at Nursery as everyone has been raring to go!  We explored the soft play this week and experimented with different ways to move our bodies.  It was fun and the children thought of imaginative ways to use the equipment!  Red Group have been practicing their cutting skills this week with a bag full of different materials – some of them were very tricky to cut.  A favourite activity of Red Group’s is working with the Numicon.  Today they were using it like a jigsaw and trying to fit the pieces together on the board.
