We have eight key aims for all of our children. These are:-
- Being Independent
- Being Confident
- Becoming an interested reader and writer
- Becoming a problem solver
- Being resilient
- Being inquisitive
- Being a good friend
- Being at one with nature
Children develop a strong love of books and stories in our nursery. The choice of literature is sequential, interesting, and available for children to build on what they have learned. Our children can often be seen retelling familiar stories with their friends during work time. We aim for children to gain a good understanding of rhymes and alliteration and encourage children to make up their own. Children develop a broad and rich vocabulary which they are able to use in their imaginative play. They become aware of sounds and begin to differentiate those they can hear in the environment. It is important that children are given opportunities to use a range of tools to encourage children to ascribe meanings to the marks they make.
