We made pancakes this week – YUM YUM!! The children had the choice of what they would like to put on their pancake, some had chocolate some had strawberries.

We have been exploring painting using pipettes – we carried out an experiment to see if we could make new colours. Lucy said “I’ve made purple”, she told me red and blue make purple. Charlotte said “I’ve made green”, she told me blue and yellow make green. We have also been exploring hammers, talking about how we keep ourselves save and others around us.

8th June 2018F Waterhouse

This week we have been focusing on superheroes.  We made a mask and cape on Tuesday and became a superhero.  On Thursday we made a lollystick superhero. Musical instruments have been a big interest. The children made their own drums using boxes and tubes and then went outside and used real instruments to make a marching band!

What a great week we have had!! Superhero week!!

We read Superhero Daisy – we talked about what superheroes do and what powers they might have. We made masks and capes and even had a race!! We also made superhero puppets using lolly sticks and material.

5th June 2018F Waterhouse

We went to the Hall Hill Farm. What a lovely day we had. We all were farmers for the day. We saw baby chicks; we held the rabbits and fed the lambs and goats. We walk around the farm and saw pigs and a peacock that showed us his beautiful feathers. We went on a tractor ride and first the day exploring the climbing frame.

We came back to nursery and build our very own farm using natural resources. We talk about what we get from animals and how important it is to look after them.

This week in the am and pm green group Milo’s Grandma came in and made chocolate chip cookies with the children.  They were delicious!

We explored clay and natural resources for one of our small group activities.  The children made monsters, cakes dinosaurs and cars.  Harvey thought his piece of moss looked like a tree.

4th May 2018F Waterhouse

This week we closely observed some tadpoles on the light box. We read a story about how they change into frogs, so the children check each day to see if there has been a change.

Lego has still been hugely popular so we got it out as a small group with some small world resources.  We did some weeding on Thursday and collected some leaves for our new rabbit. It ate them straight away.

We have been exploring the block area. The children give their ideas of what we could build using the blocks then we voted for the best idea which was to build a haunted house to tell stories in. We hid under the material and used a torch to tell our stories. We chopped carrots for our new fluffy friend, who we will name next week. The children have been exploring play dough “making pancakes” – they flipped them in the pans.
