Green Group

wb 23.09.19

3rd October 2019J Begum

The Green Groupers have been to FOREST SCHOOL this week! WOOHOO!
The children helped get dressed and tried putting on their splash suits and wellies ready to go and explore. We played a game of 1,2,3 Where are you… which was full of very funny as the children kept giggling while hiding.
We talked about the weather and season changing to autumn and made creative Autumnal pictures in group using our hands. We explored the dark gloomy weather and watched the rain in the top room before having a disco with the light wands!

Say Cheese to some of our green groupers…. CHEEEEEEEEEEESE!

Welcome Green Groupers!

What a busy week we’ve had. The children explored all the new areas in nursery and introduced themselves to their peers and staff. We went round each area as a group and explored all the different things available.
Most of the children engaged in a role play game outside where they all pretended to be firefighters and were trying to put out all the fires they could find around the nursery yard! They were very quick at putting them out!
The children planned together and explored together, what a lovely week!

9th May 2019J Begum

This week the children were making play-dough at work time. We talked about the different ingredients we needed to put in the bowl and mix altogether. The children chose to make red play-dough and helped need the dough with flour to make it less sticky.

The green group also played a game of eye spy using familiar resources in the nursery. They were really good at guessing!

We also had a little visit from Daisy the dog!

Easter Stay & Play and 80th Birthday Celebration

4th April 2019J Begum

03.04.19

We had a very busy day today!

The children and grown ups came along to our Through the Decades Easter Stay & Play and explored lots of fun and creative activities. From decorating eggs and making Easter cards to exploring the forest school and chopping vegetables in the house area! The children also got to try out their cooking skills by making chocolate Easter nests to eat in the kitchen.

The children looked great dressed up!

Big congratulations to all the Easter Egg competition winners and Well Done to those that participated!

We also celebrated the Nursery’s 80th Birthday! Wow!

We are so lucky to have been open for so long and developed through the years into what we are today!

We were so pleased with the turn out of guests and thank all that came along to celebrate this special day. The children sang some lovely Easter songs for our grown ups and guests and some even got to see an amazing magic show by Flash the Magician.

We would also like to thank Alan who use to attend this nursery for choosing our Easter Raffle winner!!

We are officially in!

The Green Group explored the Sensory Room for the first time and it was AMAZING!

We talked about what it can be used for and the purpose of it and explored the rules of the room.

The children appeared to be in awe of the lights and smells and of course the colourful bubble tube which has its own fish!

We explored some of the sensory baskets and resources inside of them. The children had many questions and worked well together to take turns.

We would like to thank all the kind parents who helped us raise money and donated towards this. Thank you for all your support the Green Group definitely enjoyed using this room and will continue to do so.

3rd December 2018F Waterhouse

Some of the children shared that they had seen fireworks over the weekend and talked about going to upcoming fireworks displays and bonfires.  So for small group this week we had some creative and messy fun by making our very own firework pictures!

The children were able to use materials such as chalk and paint to create their own fireworks!

There were so very big splashes in the creative area and lots of different patterns being shown using the chalk.

In our group room we talked about being safe around bonfires and fireworks. The children were able to point out and share dangers and what could happen if they weren’t safe!

The children have also shown an interest in traditional stories. This week the children experienced the sand story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We used props from the small world area to tell the story and the children did a great job joining in!

We hope everyone has a lovely time seeing the fireworks and stays safe!
