This week at nursery we have been learning all about the Euros 2024 and how England are currently representing us in the competition. We have had a penalty shoot out, looking at the globe and drawing flags.
This week, we have also had special visitors into nursery…A nurse and a lollipop lady. Each of the visitors shared with the children what their job role was and how they help the children both at home and in the environment. The children all listened well and even had turns at taking on these roles!
Finally, in the kitchen this week, we have been making smoothies! The children helped to cut and prepare the fruit before blending it into a fruit smoothie for us to drink!
We have had such a lovely day today, celebrating Christmas with a party! There was games, dancing, party food and even a special visitor to nursery…Santa! Santa spoke with all the boys and girls, asking what they would like for Christmas and even gave them each a present. Santa rubbed some magic on our hands and when we went outside, the magic turned into snow!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!

We have been busy this week in the Yellow group. The children have enjoyed exploring areas in the nursery such as small world- building train tracks, role play- cooking and looking after the babies, kitchen- decorating ginger bread men and also writing area- making marks with candy canes! We also held some events for the parents to come along to such as the Polar Express night where we enjoyed the movie with hot choc and cookies, decorated Christmas crafts and got cosy with stories in our pjs! We also performed our ‘Wriggly Nativity’ this week for parents. The children have worked so hard practicing the songs and actions so it was lovely to finally be able to share that!
We had an amazing Christmas Stay and Play day on Wednesday. Just look what we did and what our families said!
“Lovely morning and great activities. It was great to see my child playing with their friends!”

“Always great to be able to have some time in ‘their world’. Lots of fun and lovely memories. Thank you and Merry Christmas.”
“We love nursery! Always so much fun to see all of the things the children get up to!”
“Absolutely outstanding, amazing and kind staff. Fully recommend to everyone. Best nursery ******”
This week, we started the Christmas activities in nursery in which all the children are excited for Christmas and Santa coming. We enjoyed activities such as writing letters to Santa, Christmas cutters in the play dough and Christmas painting. On Friday 1st December, we also introduced the nursery elf and an advent Calendar that we will open each day on the run up to Christmas. On Friday, Mrs Hudson also found Santa’s hat that he must have dropped on his test runs over nursery. Children were very concerned and suggested we need to get it back him and so we put it in an envelope and walked to the postbox down the street to send it back and hope that he receives it before Christmas Eve!
What a busy week we have had at nursery. There have been lots of new interests such as dentists, car ramps, puppet shows, letters and of course Christmas. Practitioners always work to extend the children’s interests and knowledge in the moment and so you can see here the children learning the importance of brushing teeth, the correct motion when brushing, colour mixing via car tracks, identifying letters of names and playing sound lotto! We also extended the children’s interest in Christmas by doing a show and tell of our own Christmas trees and even getting nursery Christmas ready with the decorations!
