This week at nursery we have been learning all about the Euros 2024 and how England are currently representing us in the competition. We have had a penalty shoot out, looking at the globe and drawing flags.
This week, we have also had special visitors into nursery…A nurse and a lollipop lady. Each of the visitors shared with the children what their job role was and how they help the children both at home and in the environment. The children all listened well and even had turns at taking on these roles!
Finally, in the kitchen this week, we have been making smoothies! The children helped to cut and prepare the fruit before blending it into a fruit smoothie for us to drink!
The children were all very excited when we started to rehearse our Wiggly Nativity! We learned all the songs and the children chose which character they would like to dress up as. They put on a fantastic performance for their families!
Christmas was such a busy time for us at nursery. We met Santa, wrote cards, made presents and so much more.
The Christmas party was great fun! We danced, had a fashion parade and played lots of games. The children were more than ready for their delicious party food. Then Santa came!!!!
This week we explored the texture of different things. We learned new words to describe how things felt like ‘sticky’ and ‘runny’. The Gloop was amazing and sometimes it was runny but then it went hard. We explored the insides of old pumpkins and even made a a cauldron full of witches porridge!
First we decide who is special helper and how many children are in our group today
When we sort the milk out we need to put straws in for our friends
Some of us then plan to play in the home corner. Soup for anyone?
Or outside in the sunshine
At tidy up time we make sure that everything gets put away.
Welcome Blue Group! What a fantastic first few weeks we have had welcoming the blue group into our setting. They have settled into our nursery routine; including being special helper, giving out the snack and singing songs at large group time. They have enjoyed exploring all that has been on offer to them and they are beginning to form some lovely relationships.
It has been a pleasure to see, Mrs Wood

During Mental Health Week our children talked a lot about their feelings. We looked at what can make us happy and sad and how we express these emotions. We had fun listening to a wide range of music and painting how it made us feel onto large pieces of paper. We looked carefully at ourselves in mirrors and talked about our similarities and differences, what we liked and what our friends liked to do. We loved singing calm songs under the parachute. We felt very chilled!
