Diwali Celebrations and Children in Need Day

17th November 2023Mrs J Parker

This week we have been celebrating both Diwali and Children in need. The children learnt that Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights and we celebrated with different activities such as making Diva lamps, Rangoli patterns, Mehndi patterns and trying curry and naan bread. We celebrated Children in need by coming to nursery dressed in spots or Pudsey clothes. Again we had different activities such as playing corners, yellow play dough, shaving foam and even a children in need story to learn what children is all about! Children brought money and donated to charity!

Thank you

Happy Halloween

13th November 2023Mrs J Parker

We have been very busy in Red Group since the half term holidays!  We practiced our cutting skills by making a black and orange collage will papers of different textures.  It was tricky, but the children persevered and produced some good work.  Forest School was exciting, as a witch had hidden lots of spooky objects in the Forest and the children had a page of pictures to tick off as they found them.  It was not easy because some of the objects were camouflaged in their surroundings.  The children were really engrossed in this activity and some even found an extra piece of treasure- a scary pumpkin face!

We had our Halloween Party on Wednesday which was a lot of fun!  The children’s costumes were fab and we had a spooky parade at the start of the party.  We played games, had a dance and ate our party food.  Anthony’s Mam brought her animals in (Snails and Tails) and the children enjoyed stroking and just watching the snakes, rabbits and dragons.

Apart from having fun at Halloween we have been talking about our fears and feelings around this time, and what is real and pretend.  The children know that ghosts and witches are not real, but were surprised to discover that skeletons are real and we all have one!

1st Week Back

9th November 2023Mrs J Parker

Upon returning to nursery after the half term, we have had a spooktacular week celebrating both Halloween and Bonfire night. The children enjoyed a range of activities such as making spooky potions, halloween dress up, glittery mark making and fork printing! At our Halloween party, we were also lucky enough to have a visit from ‘tails n snails’ which included a range of animals such as hedgehogs, rabbits, snakes, dragons and tortoises! The children listened well to facts about the animals and how to carefully stroke and handle them!

The children have been very interested in growing food to eat.  We have made our very own allotment and using our skills and knowledge of caring for plants to make sure they get everything that they need to grow.
