Nativity Week

This week the children have done their wriggly nativity performances and worked so hard to sing and follow the script! They all looked adorable in their costumes and we are very proud of them all! They have also been making Christmas cards, Calendars and writing letters to Santa, all of which they will take home next week! Merry Christmas Everyone!

Wow what a week we have had! Stay and play day was a huge event as always and well attended by family members. Thank you so much to everyone who came and supported the children during this special day! We had lots of Christmas themed areas and things to make. Then on Friday we had a visit from the Christmas Elf who entertained the children with her wonderful show!

3rd December 2018F Waterhouse

This week we have been enjoying working with the letters, numbers and shapes.  We have been drawing and sticking with them so the children become familiar with their names as we work. Red group love listening to stories and repeating phrases together.  This week it has been ‘Run run as fast as you can.’ from ‘The Gingerbread Man’ story.  During our music circle the children have been practicing conducting the other children while they play their instruments.  On Friday we practiced our ball skills by throwing, catching and kicking the balls through a target. Phew!

This week, we have been talking about Pudsey Bear and Children In Need.  The children are raising money for other children who are not as lucky as they are.  We have been doing other fun things, such as decorating Pudsey biscuits, singing bear songs, sorting bears and listening to bear stories.  It has also been the Hindu festival of Diwali so we read a book about how children all over the world celebrate this.  We decided to try our hand at Rangoli patterns.  On Tuesday we worked with the compare bears.  The children made patterns, counted bears and used the language of size.

Red Group have been learning about fire and firework safety this week.  We listened to the story of Frances the Firefly who played with matches, and had a puppet show about not being safe with fireworks.  On a brighter note, we did some firework splash painting.  The children used some lovely language as they talked about all the colours, shapes and noises they heard over the firework period.  After the painting, all the children worked as a team to clean up the mess they had made!

This week, we read ‘The Little Red Hen and The ear of Wheat.’  It’s a lovely story about the perils of not helping your friends!  Included in the story sack was a game of farmyard dominoes. The children were keen to learn how to play the game and were not too upset when they did not win!  Some of the children also practiced their ball skills at Worktime when we had a game of football, we have some talented footballers in the making!  We have been learning about Autumn and the Harvest this week.  Red Group worked very hard to chop vegetables for the soup and to learn all our Autumn songs for the show.
