02.10.17 Stories and Songs of the Week

By F Waterhouse27th September 2017

Songs of the week:

Autumn Leaves (tune of London Bridge)

Autumn leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down

Autumn leaves are falling down, all around us.

Dingle Dangle Scarecrow

When all the cows were sleeping
And the sun had gone to bed
Up jumped the scarecrow
And this is what he said!

I’m a dingle, dangle scarecrow
With a flippy floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this
And shake my feet like that.

When all the hens were roosting
And the moon behind the cloud
Up jumped the scarecrow
And shouted very loud.

I’m a dingle, dangle scarecrow
With a flippy floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this
And shake my feet like that.

When the dogs were in the kennels
And the doves were in the loft
Up jumped the scarecrow
And whispered very soft.

I’m a dingle, dangle scarecrow
With a flippy floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this
And shake my feet like that.

I’m a dingle, dangle scarecrow
With a flippy floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this
And shake my feet like that.

Here is my spout

When I get all steamed up
I just shout
Tip me over and pour me out

I am a very special pot
It is true
Here is an example of what I can do
I can turn my handle into a spout
Tip me over and pour me out

Week beginning 18th September 2017

By F Waterhouse22nd September 2017

Some of the Yellow Group (MTW) explored the creative area! We remembered to roll our sleeves up and put on aprons before we got all messy! We spent some time exploring different coloured paints and making our own pictures! There were a lot of flowers and rainbows being painted.

Some of the Yellow Group (WTF) explored the mud kitchen area! The children made some delicious mud soup and explored the equipment in our kitchen!

FOREST SCHOOL Yellow Group 20.09.2017

Today the new children explored the Forest School areas. They were fantastic at putting on their own splash suits. We walked into the Willow Dome and introduced our Forest School Calendar and talked about the days of the week, the weather and the seasons.

The children collected lots of leaves and compared their colours, shapes and sizes.

They had great fun with fallen autumn fruit and also played with some plastic piping.

We looked in the pond to see what we could see. Harriett touched a frog and said ‘it’s cold’.

Alba and Leo loved the mud kitchen and made some yummy mud cookies with decorations.

Finally the children gathered around the campfire area and we discussed fire rules and what we have to do to keep ourselves safe when the fire is lit. The children were excellent and thinking up rules and we finished off by having a yummy hot chocolate and some marshmallows

Week beginning 18th September 2017

By F Waterhouse22nd September 2017

We have had a busy week this week, with lots of interesting things for our new children to experience. The older children in Red Group have been teaching the younger ones how to use the areas and how to tidy up! The children have explored a selection of the areas around our nursery and some of the children have been Special Helpers for the first time, which is very exciting!

The children loved the fallen fruit from our orchard and they loved collecting them in buckets. Mrs Stephenson chopped up some pears, plums and apples from the garden and the children had a little try. They went down a treat!

We looked in the pond and caught a frog! The children had a great time looking closely and touching the frog.
