By F Waterhouse6th October 2017

Today we had a visit from a school council member from Jarrow Cross Primary School who came and read one of our stories of the week to each of our groups of children. It was a lovely experience for all of the children.

Blue Group Week Beginning the 25th of September

By Mrs J Parker3rd October 2017

We learned about potential Forest School dangers with Miss Pollard and also the campfire rules as we toasted marshmallows.

FOREST SCHOOL Blue Group 26.09.2017

Today we found some mushrooms growing in Forest School so the children talked about how they are dangerous and what we need to do if we find them.

The morning children played in the mud kitchen and looked for creatures in the Forest.  They found snails, slugs and snails.

The afternoon children collected leaves and found a family of snails.  The spent a lot of time examining the snails and watching how they moved together.

All of the children sat round the campfire and revisited the campfire rules.  They were fantastic at remembering the campfire rules so we lit the campfire and the children toasted their own marshmallows!

By F Waterhouse22nd September 2017

The blue group did lots of filling and emptying, pouring, cooking with natural materials and painting as they explored the mud kitchen areas.

FOREST SCHOOL Blue Group 19.09.2017
Today the new children explored the Forest School areas. They were fantastic at putting on their own splash suits. We walked into the Willow Dome and introduced our Forest School Calendar and talked about the days of the week, the weather and the seasons. The children collected lots of leaves and compared their colours, shapes and sizes. They had great fun with fallen autumn fruit and also played with some plastic piping. We looked at the pond and Jooles was fantastic at holding a frog and showed the new children how not to be afraid.
Finally the children gathered around the campfire area and we discussed fire rules and what we have to do to keep ourselves safe when the fire is lit. The children were excellent and thinking up rules and we finished off by having a yummy hot chocolate and some marshmallows.
