Blue group have shown a big interest in mini-beasts, loving investigating them outside using the magnifying glasses. One of our parents was kind enough to donate a wormery and the children have loved making a safe home for them and collecting worms to go inside. The Hungry Caterpillar story has been popular and learning about the life cycle and how they turn into butterflies. Look at some of our beautiful butterfly symmetry paintings we made. We also tasted the food that the hungry caterpillar ate and made a tally chart to see what we liked and what we didn’t. To extend their interest of bugs Mrs Wood brought in Sid her Giant African Snail from home and the children have been learning how to care for it, chopping up fruit for it to eat and we even had a hold! We thought its shell felt hard and its body was slimy! Some of the children drew Sid the snail and made play dough models of him.
