Green Group Week beginning the 25th of September

By Mrs J Parker3rd October 2017

This week in the green room we went on a bear hunt following on from our story last week!! We splashed through the water, ran through long grass “swishy swashy” and tiptoed very quietly towards the cave. We also did yoga “going on the bear hunt”-everyone joined it.

Jessica kindly sent us a parcel-it was envelopes, Thank you!!

This week in the green room we made muffin pizzas. Some of the children liked them and some didn’t, but they all had a try.  We decided that we’d like to make cupcakes in the future.

The children all practiced their cutting skills.  They had a bag with a variety of things to cut in it.  The children were all really engaged in this activity.

Yellow Group Week beginning the 25th of September

By Mrs J Parker3rd October 2017

Some of Yellow Group explored the Small World area in the Nursery. The dinosaurs and trains proved to be very popular until the coloured blocks came out! There was a lot of balancing and building of towers. Esme said she was building a “big big tower!” while Harriet decided, “I don’t need to build a big tower, I’m gonna build a little tower.”

Jack put his dinosaurs in a line and got very excited when he had a handful of “teeny tiny dinosaurs!”

Leo couldn’t keep his trains on the track! “They keep falling off the end.” He worked with James to make a longer track so the trains stay on.

FOREST SCHOOL Yellow Group 26.09.2017

Today we found some mushrooms growing in Forest School so the children talked about how they are dangerous and what we need to do if we find them.  The children cut and stuck pictures of our mushrooms and other mushrooms into the floor book and talked about what to do when we found them.

The morning children explored the forest and loved paying with the Elderberries which grow in abundance in the nursery forest.  Jenson and Holly used the berries to make butterfly drawings.

The afternoon children found 3 snails and they looked at them close up and they even built a den for them.  There was a huge interest in birds so the children put out seeds for the birds and they all made bird feeders.  We hid in the bird hide and looked for the birds.

All of the children sat round the campfire and revisited the campfire rules.  They were fantastic at remembering the campfire rules so we lit the campfire and the children toasted their own marshmallows!

Red Group Week of the 25th of September

By Mrs J Parker3rd October 2017

We have had a very exciting week because we have been doing a lot of things for the first time!  On Thursday Red Group were in Forest School.  It was tricky to put on our new splash suits, but most of the children had a good try.  We explored the forest then had hot chocolate and marshmallows in the fire circle.  Also, some of our new children have been my Special Helper and have done a good job.  It’s such and important job, everyone gets a turn!

The afternoon children decided that they wanted to go on a worm exploring adventure.  We found lots of different sizes of worms, big long ones and skinny small ones.  We collected lots in a bucket and they children had a great time playing with them and measuring them.
