Red Group had a fab activity this week to consolidate and extend their knowledge of shape. The children had fun making arrangements such as Rapunzel’s tower, frog’s nests, and a dinosaur land, while learning about the properties of the shapes they used. It was very popular!
This week in the am and pm green group Milo’s Grandma came in and made chocolate chip cookies with the children. They were delicious!
We explored clay and natural resources for one of our small group activities. The children made monsters, cakes dinosaurs and cars. Harvey thought his piece of moss looked like a tree.

This term we have been looking for signs of Spring; which created lots of discussion about how to look after plants and animals. We looked closely at the frogs in the pond, during our Family Forest school session and explored lifecycles which included reading the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We also planted cress seeds during one of our small group times and talked about how the seeds needed water and sunlight to help them grow
Yellow Group explored making arrangements using 2D shapes and natural materials. Some of the children started to make up their own patterns by drawing around different shapes. While others attempted to draw shapes freehand! I was a very exciting moment for some children!
There was a lot of creativity shown from children using the resources in their own unique ways. As some would chose to draw and make marks others used the materials to make constructions e.g. houses, lollipops, towers and used some of the objects as instruments.
It was truly fascinating to observe.
The Yellow, Red and Blue Group went on a Sponsored Walk down to the local forest. We had a lovely time walking in the sunshine. We were super safe crossing the road and made sure we followed the rules of crossing a road.
Look Left, Look Right, Look Left again… Can you see anything? Can you hear anything? … Cross altogether.
We crossed the River Don and saw the ducks passing by. On our walk, we managed to collect some sticks for our camp fires at forest school and even had time to play a game of pooh stick!
It was a lovely day! Thank you to all the parents who came along!
This week we looked at exploring primary colours and mixing them to make new colours! The children used their pipettes to make green, orange, purple and BROWN! This was a very popular colour being made, there were lots of ooo’s and aahh’s when the children figured out how to make brown!
We will continue to explore mixing colours to see what else we can make!
We explored looking at numbers 1 to 10 and matching quantities to numerals for planning time. Some of the children really challenged themselves and explore looking at quantiies of numbers beyond 10! Yellow Group are never afraid of asking for help. They always work together if someone gets a little bit stuck.
Look at our pumpkin so far! We are definitely going to win this competition… Whose going to win? YELLOW GROUP!!
