We work closely with partners in the community, building strong links and sharing expertise and skills. We are very fortunate that one of our parents is a Community Champion for Sainsburys. He has donated to the Nursery on a number of occasions, including hot dogs and juice for our open day, tea, coffee and cups for the Christmas Fair, and gingerbread men for our trip to the pantomime. A massive THANK YOU, LEE from everyone at Clervaux Nursery School!
We also have close links with Morrisons in Jarrow, and their Community Champion, Andria, has donated a number of prizes for our raffles, an apple tree to plant in our garden, as well as fruit for all of the children. We are also planning to take the children to visit the store over the next month, so that they can look behind the scenes in the bakery, fish counter and the fruit and veg area. How exciting!
Over the school year we hold open days and fairs, where the community are welcome in to share what we do in Nursery, and to help us to fund raise. These events are always popular and well attended.
We have been fortunate enough to put in two successful bids to The Big Local Jarrow for money which has paid for a Family Campfire Cookery Day, and towards developing a sensory garden at the back of the School. We also successfully bid for a ÂŁ500 Community Area Forum grant, which was used to build a canopy at the entrance to Forest School, where the children are able to get changed into and out of their Forest School clothing.
